As usual we head out a little late in the day. With minutes to spare for sunset we arrived at the mountain. They tell us that we can stay as long as we want but they were closing the tower area in 10 minutes. Not too interested in the touristy parts I said that was fine and parked. This place actually has shuttles that take you up to the peak and with minutes left of sunset we jumped in and rode up the mountain. Just walking to the shuttle we realized we had severely messed up. It was about 40°F and the wind was strong. We didn't have the jackets for this. We basically froze. The last shuttle ride back down to the parking lot had passed and we had to walk the rest of the way down. Despite the bitter cold the views were stunning, nothing like I have ever seen in Georgia before. Definitely recommend visiting this place.
